Specialized Industries

Raising a glass to UFL

Old World or New World, as a product, wine is a perishable product and UFL’s expertise in handling perishable traffic guarantees that when a connoisseur enjoys a fine vintage or a bottle is opened at a barbeque, there is a good chance that its safe delivery has been guaranteed by UFL.

While the Group handles wine shipments throughout its network, special investments have been made to support the growing wine business in China. One of UFL Logistics’ facilities in Hong Kong has been officially approved by the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency (HKQAA) for the provision of commercial wine storage. HKQAA has partnered with the industry to develop the HKQAA Wine Storage Management Systems Certification Scheme for wine storage companies and wine retailers. The certification means that UFL Logistics (HK) Limited is officially able to provide commercial wine storage services within the company’s warehouse at Kwai Chung.

*Under the law of Hong Kong, intoxicating liquor must not be sold or supplied to a minor in the course of business.

Greening the world thanks to UFL

The growing renewable energy sector is demanding new standards in freight forwarding and offering new challenges to freight forwarders. UFL is pleased to step up to the plate to help deliver a greener world.

The main cargo dimension to renewable energy production is that the locations for generation are often not in traditional industrial or urban centres. Remote landscapes, often precious and protected, are increasingly the locations where turbo, wind and alternative energy production is taking place. With this is coming the provision of transmission lines that connect the green energy to national power grids.

UFL is developing a specialisation in moving the materials and equipment required for the new generations of renewable energy. For example, manufacturers of high-performance silicon solar cells and modules, in both the upstream and downstream sides of their supply chain, handling the logistics management of new and pre-owned capital equipment, raw materials and finished product are now turning to UFL to power their projects.

Second hand is always

first class at UFL

Previously owned capital equipment is a special capital handling specification for the transport management of some highly sensitive equipment that our clients entrust to us.

As a ‘logistics-smart’ company, we have taken the experience gained in the computer and electronics sector and our quality policy is geared towards adherence to customer requirements and zero incidences of service failures as we guarantee previously owned equipment arrives as good as new.

Read all about it

UFL Books has an excellent portfolio of global freight and logistics services for international publishing companies enabling us to ship printed materials from one parcel up to full containers.

We offer publishers a full range of value added logistical operations including storage and breakbulk operations; pick and pack and bar-coding. UFL Books delivers multimodal flexibility and local knowledge. All of which allows us to closely monitor your printed materials on the move.

We offer fiscal consultancy and advice services, market intelligence and assistance in product purchase and sales, including all documentation.

Our comprehensive support services help you move your printed materials from origin through to final destination – we deal with books from cover to cover.

Tailor-made services for the fashion industry

UFL’s tailor-made services for the worldwide garment industry never go out of fashion. This is because our centralised control co-ordinates transportation with production schedules at factories and pro-actively generating flight or vessel plans for better stock control at the destination to ensure the earliest release of garments.

UFL warehouses have racking for garments on hangers, which then transfer to a fleet of specially designed containers to get them to your markets wrinkle-free and in top condition. We consistently provide value-added options to our fast and reliable services ensuring shipments arrive at destination. These options include: a hand-carry service for “time-sensitive” samples; regular market updates on the worldwide garment market; website shipment tracking and tracing; website airway bill printing; automatic e-mail pre-alerts on every shipment.

We will design a bespoke transportation solution to fit garment suppliers or importers so you can ensure timely delivery to your customers.

Fine Art Logistics

UFL Singapore’s ArtSafe division is setting the standard for fine arts storage in its Changi South facility. However, it is more than just a static storage site – the facility contains an exhibit space for the showcasing of artwork by local artists.

For the future, ArtSafe Singapore is looking to organise a global team to handle art logistics with participation from companies throughout the UFL network. This may involve the movement of fragile, valuable and priceless art pieces to parks, buildings, hotels, museums, art galleries and private collectors around the world. The service will offer museum/gallery-standard specialised and custom-designed art packing and crating; insurance cover; temporary import and re-export customs clearance; as well as air-ride transportation where necessary.

TH Ong, managing director of UFL Singapore, said: “We appreciate the power and value of the arts; and fully understand that nothing short of spotless handling and respectful treatment is the only appropriate treatment for works of art. “Service is what makes the difference at ArtSafe. Clients can comfortably leave all the planning and co-ordination of their art storage and shipment to us.”

UFL gets off the ground

UFL’s provision of supply chain management services to manufacturers, operators and vendors involved in the global aviation and aerospace industry is supported by a hub in Singapore. Experience gained in Singapore has given the company an edge in supplying aviation and aerospace customers throughout UFL’s international network.

Whether it is a critical AOG (Aircraft on Ground) shipment that needs to move from Singapore to San Francisco, or from Hong Kong to London Heathrow, UFL’s network of offices and collection services means that it can offer cost-effective, reliable logistics solutions throughout the sector. The Singapore hub investment reflects that, rather than using facilities in North America and Europe, increasingly aircraft operators are sending aircraft to highly skilled repair locations across Asia, which offer a lower cost base.

UFL specialises in aircraft parts moved for installation on an aircraft; parts shipped in for overhaul and then returned to the original location; parts moved to another location after repair and overhaul; and parts returned after loan to another operator; all supported by real time global tracking, tracing and delivery confirmation services, already provided by UFL’s award-winning AFSA communications systems.

Life in the fast lane with UFL

The UFL Group provides a range of supply chain solutions to the global automotive industry to help manufacturers and suppliers implement leaner, more efficient supply chains that support new model development and shorter product life cycles.

Our services include managing the logistics of inbound services and delivering production line components, inventory services including inventory financing and procurement, configuration and preparation of sub-assembly facilities, as well as the physical movement of assemblies within production plants.

In addition, the group is also able to offer intercontinental freight management services and after-market operations, including supplying spare parts to dealer networks and after-sales operations.

UFL’s pace setting IT services also benefit companies in the automotive sector, which are able to use UFL’s computerised inventory management tools to help optimise JIT operations.
