Predictions of growth in e-commerce logistics
ISSUE 52

Earlier this year market research company Ti Insight issued a report predicting that that the global e-commerce logistics market is expected to grow by 7.9%, which is welcome news for the U-Freight Group as we continue to gear up of operations in order to meet the ever-increasing challenges of providing logistics services to this rapidly maturing sector of global trade.

Whilst the report indicated that the global e-commerce logistics market shrank in 2022 due to slowing demand, as well as the effects of the war in Ukraine, inflation, disrupted global supply chains and depressed consumer spending; its predictions about the sector’s long-term growth trajectory matches our own experience, currently.

Ti Insight noted that North America’s e-commerce logistics market has surpassed Asia Pacific, and is now the largest by overall value, which bodes well for the investment that U-Freight is making in its e-commerce fulfilment centres (EFCs) in Chicago and Los Angeles, as summarised in the following article.

Ti Insight also states that automation is rapidly becoming a key success factor in e-commerce logistics by enabling increasingly quick fulfilment and distribution, which is reflective of our existing and intended investment in such technology at a number of our EFCs.

At U-Freight, in our development of e-commerce logistics solutions, we are continually trying to address the key issues stemming from increasing volumes of business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) e-commerce shipments and the time sensitivity thereof.

In 2018, we launched e+Solutions (ePlus), a comprehensive logistics package designed specifically for owners of small start-up e-commerce businesses, which is offered from a number of U-Freight’s EFCs offering a comprehensive e-commerce logistics package: from dedicated storage space for the entrepreneurs’ products, to order processing and fulfillment operations, including final delivery to customers.
