UFL Group joins Japan Airlines' Apple Tree Ownership Program for the second year

The UFL Group, which has had a strong historic air cargo collaboration with Japan Airlines, has once again joined its Apple Tree Ownership Program, reaffirming our commitment to supporting sustainable agricultural practices and fostering international relationships.

As well as being a significant user of the airline's market leading cargo services, the UFL Group has been actively involved in the development of Japan Airlines' eShop. Beyond warehouse fulfillment, we provide product photography and marketing promotion advice, further strengthening our partnership.

The Apple Tree Ownership Program, hosted by Aomori Kimura Orchard in collaboration with Japan Airlines, is designed to assist apple farmers in Aomori Prefecture. The program addresses challenges such as the ageing farming population, labour shortages, and decreasing productivity due to deteriorating trees.

Through innovative and environmentally friendly farming methods, the program aims to enhance productivity and sustainability in apple farming.

By participating in the Apple Tree Ownership Program, consumers can directly support local farmers and enjoy a unique connection with the origin of their produce. This initiative also allows Japanese farmers to receive valuable feedback from overseas customers, helping them improve and promote their farm brands globally.

Last year, the UFL Group proudly participated in the program, enjoying the harvest of our first apple tree in November 2023. This year, we have continued our involvement, with an apple tree named after us for the ownership period from April 1 to November 30, 2024. Our chosen apple variety this year is Meigetsu.

As an apple tree owner, the UFL Group enjoys several exclusive benefits.

These include tree Selection and Naming; where owners can choose their preferred apple tree species or name their tree online, receiving a personalised wooden signage.

We also receive monthly updates via email detailing the growth and progress of the tree, complete with photos, videos, apple planting knowledge, and recipes.

As an owner, we can also participate in unlimited free farming experiences and fruit picking, guided by orchard staff, during the ownership period. Japan Airlines assists in making reservations and arranging activities.
