The U-Freight Group has a comprehensive portfolio of LCL and FCL container shipping services around the world and is heartened by the news from maritime consultancy Sea-Intelligence that global schedule reliability in February 2023 reached 60.2% - an increase by 7.7 percentage points month-on-month.
On a year-on-year level, schedule reliability was 26.0 percentage points higher on the same month in 2022. The average delay for late vessel arrivals also decreased, dropping by -0.07 days M/M to 5.29 days, and was down -2.30 days year on year. In relative terms, the average delay in this category is now closer to the 2019 level than to the highs of 2021-2022.
Maersk was the most reliable top-14 carrier in February with 64.9%, followed by MSC and Hamburg Süd. ZIM was the least reliable carrier with schedule reliability of 52%. All top-14 carriers recorded a month on month increase in schedule reliability, with PIL, ZIM, and Wan Hai all recording double-digit improvements.
The report covers over 60 lines on 34 different trades worldwide.
“On a year-on-year level, all carriers recorded double-digit improvements in schedule reliability in February 2023, with Wan Hai recording the largest improvement of 36.2 percentage points,” noted SeaIntel CEO Alan Murphy.
