According to media reports, a tentative deal has been reached in the US East and Gulf Coast port labour talks.

For U-Freight and the clients that use our international container shipping services for both LCL and FCL import and export cargoes to and from the US East and Gulf coasts, this will be great news if it becomes a full agreement.

The reports indicates that the international Longshoremen\u2019s Association and the United States Maritime Alliance agreed on terms for a new six-year contract Wednesday evening (January 8) \u2014 a week before their master contract was set to expire on January 15.

Although the deal still needs to be ratified by union and USMX members, an agreement removes the spectre of another strike across East and Gulf Coast ports.

The two sides agreed to continue to operate under the current contract until the union can meet with its full Wage Scale Committee and schedule a ratification vote, and USMX members can ratify the terms of the final contract.
