With our headquarters, as well as several freight and logistics hubs in the city, we note that cargo throughput at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), the world’s busiest cargo hub, steadied in February, with volumes at the same level as in the same period in 2024.

Air traffic figures released by Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) for HKIA for February, show 324,000 tonnes of cargo was handled, which is on par with a year ago.

However, February volumes were lower than the 394,000 tonnes recorded in January 2025, which was 4.1% higher year-on-year.

AAHK said over the first two months of 2025, cargo throughput rose by 2.2% to 718,000 tonnes, with transshipments recording the highest year-on-year increase of 9.6%. Many cargo sectors also saw positive growth.

Cargo traffic to and from Europe and the Middle East grew the most among key trading regions during this period, AAHK said.

Meanwhile, on a 12-month rolling basis, flight movements experienced a significant 23.2% increase to 369,635. Last November, the airport commissioned its Three-runway System (3RS), which will expand capacity and further enhance HKIA’s position as a major international aviation hub.
